10% HIKE IN FOREIGN ARRIVALS DESPITE BORACAY SHUTDOWN

MANILA– Despite the closure of Boracay Island in April, the January to May 2018 international tourist arrivals still posted a 10.24 percent increase compared to last year’s, the Department of Tourism (DOT) bared on Thursday.
The first five months of the year recorded 3.17 million foreign visitors to the Philippines, with South Korea still as the top market for its 708,548 tourists share.
DOT Undersecretary Benito Bengzon said the January to May statistics may have been driven by the “very strong performance” coming from China.
PHILIPPINE AIRLINES TO UPGRADE MANILA-LONDON ROUTE

Philippine Airlines (PAL) will be upgrading its flagship route between Manila and London it was revealed last 3rd of July 2018 by Airline Route.
From October 28 PAL will be deploying its new A350-900. It will replace the B777-300ER, which PAL currently operates for the non-stop service to London.
Not only is the A350 recognised by our readers as a quieter aircraft aloft(compared with the B777-300ER) it features the latest amenities and seating.

MACTAN-CEBU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT INAUGURATES NEW INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL

Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu – Representatives of government and the private sector, led by President Rodrigo Duterte, gathered today for the Inauguration of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) Terminal 2 (T2). Shopping tops the list of tourist activities in the Philippines, a survey of foreign visitors last year by the Department of Tourism (DOT) showed.
The Visitor Sample Survey, a copy of which was obtained by the BusinessMirror, polled some 15,000 respondents from the top 12 tourist source markets of the country from January to December 2017. They were asked the question: “What other activities did you actually do aside from the main purpose?”
These tourist markets are South Korea, People’s Republic of China, the United States, Japan, Australia, Taiwan, Canada, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and India.
